The technology behind Google's great results
As a Google user, you're familiar with the speed and accuracy of a Google search. How exactly does Google manage to find the right results for every query as quickly as it does? The heart of Google's search technology is PigeonRankā„¢, a system for ranking web pages developed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University.

Building upon the breakthrough work of B. F. Skinner, Page and Brin reasoned that low cost pigeon clusters (PCs) could be used to compute the relative value of web pages faster than human editors or machine-based algorithms. And while Google has dozens of engineers working to improve every aspect of our service on a daily basis, PigeonRank continues to provide the basis for all of our web search tools.

Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and crosslinks between internal pages on the fly.

Wiki is unusual among group communication mechanisms in that it allows the organization of contributions to be edited in addition to the content itself.

Like many simple concepts, "open editing" has some profound and subtle effects on Wiki usage. Allowing everyday users to create and edit any page in a Web site is exciting in that it encourages democratic use of the Web and promotes content composition by nontechnical users.

The world of RFID is moving fast -- so fast, in fact, that we're changing the way we deliver news to you in order to keep up.

From now on, we'll be posting articles and news on the RFID.org website as soon as they're available, bringing you the most timely information we can. The "RFID Connections" newsletter will contain a summary of the articles posted in the previous month (along with appropriate links).

Some of the articles will be reserved for subscribers only so if you've been receiving this newsletter as a pass-along, be sure to register (it's free).

And be sure to visit the website www.rfid.org frequently for up-to-date news and information on RFID.

The Email Account Size rises again

Well after the Gmail 1 GB hysteria, an email provider now giving 2GB of space (heard that it is free for use, but then check well before signing up). Maybe I will wait a few weeks to get my 1TB space email account...:-)

Looks like they are now down due to the large number of hits..
